Ambergris Caye is located about 36 miles east of Belize City. It is a quick 15 minute flight or a 1 hour boat ride from there. Ambergris Caye is about 27 miles long and sits on the southernmost tip of the Yucatan peninsula.
San Pedro is the main town on Ambergris Caye and since its early days, it has been the home of great fishermen. Most of our fishing guides are natives and their knowledge of the surrounding waters is immeasurable.
On the windward side of the island, the waterfront is all shallow waters from the beach to the reef. The magnificent coral reef is just a 1/2 mile off the beach and is home to great gamefish like permit and tarpon and also for large grouper, snapper and jacks. Along the shallow water grasses close to the beach is a bonefisher's paradise. The leeward and southern tip of Ambergris Caye are also some of the best fishing grounds in Belize. Here along the mangroves and the flats you can fish for giant tarpon, bonefish and snook. But, even though this is great light tackle fun, all this is bait fish for the big game fish lurking just outside the reef.
For the big game fisherman, its just a hop over the reef and you are in 200 and then 1,000 feet plus of blue water with some of the most exciting gamefish in the ocean-- wahoo, marlin, sailfish, and mahi mahi.
